Obtain Minnesota's Essential Skills Credential
Essential Skills Certificate

The Minnesota Department of Education awards Essential Skills Credentials to students who have successfully met the certification level, which is Level C completion on the CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System).



Students complete Level C based on the following scale scores:

Reading - 236+

Math - 236+

Writing - 261+

Listening - 221 for the Lifeskills Series or 236+ for the Life and Work Series. 

Essential Skills Credentials will only be awarded to learners in programs that adhere to strict testing guidelines required by the Department of Education.  Download a partner agreement or, for more information, contact the Department of Education.
